Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES. / GREENSBORO. PA.", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, the front featuring Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling, along with various stenciled floral motifs and flourishes. Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Base with stenciled "3" flanked by flourishes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. One handle with a chip to each terminal. Other handle with a chip to midsection, a chip to one terminal, and light wear to opposite terminal. A tiny chip to shoulder molding on front. Some staining to surface.
