Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO / PA.", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with freehand stripes and vining, large Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling, and a bold-faced stenciled "3" at base, along with various small stenciled flourishes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A tight 4 1/2" crack from rim. A chip to one handle terminal and minor wear to opposite terminal. Minor wear to the terminals of opposite handle.
