Scarce Four-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Stamped "DS", Daniel Seagle, Vale, NC, circa 1840, skillfully-potted, highly-ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout and ribbed handle, the surface covered in an olive-green alkaline glaze with appealing runs to the left side of the jug's front and upper handle terminal. Shoulder impressed "DS" above a four-gallon capacity mark. Professionally-restoration to much of spout. Hole drilled in underside. Two tiny chips and an in-the-firing ping to handle.
