Unusual Glazed Redware Pitcher with Mocha Seaweed Decoration, PA origin, third quarter 19th century, ovoid pitcher with footed base, tooled shoulder, and flared rim, decorated around the midsection with six manganese seaweed designs in the style of English mochaware. Interior coated in cream-colored slip. Entire surface dipped in a clear lead glaze. A 1 3/4" Y-shaped crack at base, continuing onto underside, where it forms a V. This crack then continues as a very faint line 7/8" onto base of pitcher. Wear to rim and handle. Small base chips. H 5 1/4".
