One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "WHITES UTICA", NY State origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, tall collar, and applied lug handles with original piercings, the front decorated with a stylized slip-trailed design of a bird perched on a tree stump. Minor chipping to base. Some bubbling to cobalt. A minor in-the-firing ping to rim on reverse.
