Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Bird Decoration, Stamped "T O GOODWIN / HARTFORD", CT origin, circa 1830, highly-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-accented design of a bird perched on a stylized branch. Impressed circular details to wing and eye. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a long-term Wilmington, DE collection. A tight spider line around base, including a line extending off from this 5" up reverse. Otherwise excellent condition.
