Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "B.C. MILBURN / ALEXA", Alexandria, VA origin, circa 1850, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, applied tab handles, and semi-rounded rim, the front decorated with two large slip-trailed tulips, the reverse decorated with three slip-trailed tulips extending horizontally around the shoulder. Area below rim decorated with a slip-trailed wavy line. Very nice condition with a long, faint horizontal line at bottom edge, a minor in-the-firing chip to one handle, and a few tiny base nicks. Old flecks of white paint to surface, unrelated to any sort of restoration.
