Fine Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Federal Eagle Motif, Stenciled "A.P. DONAGHHO, / FREDERICKTOWN, PA.", circa 1870, semi-ovoid jar with tapered rim and tooling to midsection and shoulder, the front decorated with a large stenciled design of a Federal eagle with shield, holding an olive branch and arrows. Stenciled below with the large, bold-faced mark, "A.P. DONAGHHO, / FREDERICKTOWN, PA.". Desirable decoration and early Frederick stenciling. Provenance: Collection of Lorren Lambert, Staunton, VA. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some minor nicks to shoulder molding.
