Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Hearts Decoration, Stamped "GEDDES. N.Y.", William H. Farrar, Geddes, NY, circa 1860, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with an elaborate slip-trailed design of three conjoined hearts with dotted borders and brushed embellishments on their interiors. Slip-trailed "2" to shoulder. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Excellent condition with some staining to surface, a few short, minor lines to base, and a small base chip.
