Fine Diminutive Glazed Redware Jug, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'", PA origin, circa 1870, ovoid jug with cylindrical spout and applied handle, the surface decorated with sponged manganese and a heavy clear lead glaze over an orange ground. Impressed below spout with John Bell maker's mark. Exceptional size and condition. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, recently found in Missouri. Remarkable, essentially as-made condition, retaining a brilliant luster. H 5 5/8".
