Two Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jars, Catawba Valley, NC origin, late 19th century, both of ovoid form with thin, flattened rims and applied handles, a three-gallon example with brownish glaze, incised "3" under one handle and a four-gallon example with dark-olive glaze, incised with a reversed "4" under one handle. Three-gallon jar with two rim chips with old filler applied, as well as a 1" line from rim. Four-gallon example in excellent condition with a small rim chip.
