Two-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug with Stamped Handle, Crawford County, GA origin, second half 19th century, semi-ovoid jug with slightly-flared spout, the surface with covered in a streaky dark-green alkaline glaze. Handle impressed with unknown initials, possibly "VOL" for Virgil Oscar Long, or possibly "?OA", for a member of the Averett family. Provenance: Harmer Rooke Galleries, New York, NY. Excellent condition with some scratches to surface. H 15 14".
