Scarce One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Face Decoration, Stamped "POTTERY WORKS / LITTLE WST 12TH ST NY", William Macquoid, Manhattan, NY, circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and tall, semi-squared rim, decorated with a brushed design of a fanciful face with beard and scrolled embellishments. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Rim chips. One handle chip. Minor wear to recessed inner rim.
