One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Impressed Decoration, Stamped "CORLEARS / HOOK", Thomas Commeraw, Manhattan, NY origin, circa 1815, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, decorated with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted drape-and-tassel motif, below the impressed and cobalt-highlighted words, "CORLEARS HOOK". Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a fifty-year private collection. Base chips, some of which are glazed-over or partially glazed-over. Some in-the-firing dry spots to surface.
