Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.", circa 1875, cylindrical jug with squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a long-term private collection. Some restoration to spout. Areas of staining to surface.
