Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J BURGER JR. / ROCHESTER. N.Y.", circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with three-petaled blossom. Slip-trailed "2." at shoulder. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Provenance: David Musser Collection. A 5" X-shaped surface line to reverse/side, not visible on interior. A 2 1/2" surface line under one handle, not visible on interior. A 1 1/2" rim chip and small rim chip.
