Two Norwalk, CT Stoneware Jars with Cobalt Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, circa 1840, a one-gallon cylindrical jar with bold stylized cobalt floral motif, stamped "SMITH & DAY, / MANUFACTURERS, / NORWALK CON."; paired with a three-gallon jar with bold cobalt floral motif, stamped "A.E. SMITH & SONS, / MANUFACTURERS / 38 Peck Slip, N.Y.," Norwalk, CT origin. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market lot, from a long-term private collection. Smith & Day jar in excellent condition with a chip to top of rim. A.E. Smith & Sons jar in very nice condition with some small chips on interior of rim.
