Scarce Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Cross Motif, Stenciled "J.P. PARKER / JANE LEW / WV", circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a stenciled design of a cross surrounded by stars, above J.P. Parker maker's stenciling, flanked by wavy cobalt stripes. Desirable WV maker and decoration. Rim chips. Three lines from rim, measuring 4 1/4", 4", and 3 1/2". A minor 1 1/2" Y-shaped line to underside, not visible on interior.
