Outstanding Miniature Stoneware Cream Jar with Profuse Freehand Cobalt Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1870. This exceptionally-sized jar includes Western PA vining, stripes, and spots encompassing the entire body, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and thin rim, decorated completely around the body with freehand vining. Additional freehand stripe decoration extending around circumference below rim, dotted accents to midsection, and a freehand stripe around base with vertical stripes and dots below. Exceptional size and decoration. Four hairlines extending from rim down sides of jar. Surface wear to interior of rim. Spots of wear to exterior of rim. H 3 5/8".
