Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Wall Sculpture of an African-American Bust, probably Midwestern or Southern U.S. origin, late 19th or early 20th century, hand-modeled bust with applied facial features, incised mouth, pierced nostrils, and well-detailed hair, the sculpture including the figure's shirt collar and incised button. Open reverse side reveals a pierced T-shaped support, designed to allow the face to be hung on the wall. Losses to shirt collar. Otherwise excellent condition with two in-the-firing separations to support on interior. H 12" ; W 9 1/4".
