Scarce Stoneware World's Fair Train Bank, Embossed "WORLD'S FAIR / MY EXPENSES TO / CHICAGO / PAT APPLIED FOR", attributed to the Whites Pottery, Utica, NY, circa 1893, molded in the form of a globe with relief decoration of a train, embossed "WORLD'S FAIR / MY EXPENSES TO / CHICAGO / PAT APPLIED FOR". Cobalt highlights throughout. Coin slot in top. One of the prized forms in Whites Utica stoneware, made to commemorate the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. Provenance: Robert Meltzer Collection. Excellent overall condition with a faint, approximately 1/2" line extending from slot and a tiny nick to edge of slot. H 4 1/2".
