Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Freehand Floral Decoration, Stenciled "BAYLESS, / McCARTHEY & CO. / LOUISVILLE. KY.", Western PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with tooling to shoulder and spout, the front featuring the bold-faced stenciling, "BAYLESS, / McCARTHEY & CO. / LOUISVILLE. KY.", with stylized stenciling above and below. Base with highly-unusual freehand decoration of a tulip surrounded by spots. A 1" chipped section to spout. Small chips to handle. Three very minor chips to underside at edge.
