Half-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug with Kaolin Slip Decoration, attributed to Collin Rhodes, Shaw's Creek, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, highly-ovoid jug with tooled spout, the surface covered in a greenish alkaline glaze and decorated in kaolin slip with a curved leafy stem below the capacity notation, "1/2", within a circle. Exceptional size. Missing handle. A very tight, diagonal L-shaped line to base on side/front of jug. H 9".
