Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Bold Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J & E NORTON / BENNINGTON VT", circa 1855, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a stem with scrolled leaves bearing two bull's-eye-shaped blossoms. Exceptional color, gloss, and thickness to cobalt. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
