Rare and Fine Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Impressed Drape Decoration, Stamped "T.W . J.L.", Thomas Warne and Joshua Letts, South Amboy, NJ, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base and heavily-tooled shoulder, decorated with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted drape design below the impressed maker's mark, "T.W . J.L". Reverse with brushed three-petaled flower blossom. Desirable maker, featuring excellent size, color, and condition. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a fifty-year private collection. Exceptional condition with a minor nick to underside at edge and a brown-colored contact mark to top of rim, which includes a small, glazed-over iron ping. H 7 1/4".
