Glazed Redware Jar with Streaked Manganese Decoration, Bristol County, MA origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with distinctive tapered shoulder, footed base, and narrow opening, the surface decorated with manganese streaks over a bright-orange ground and covered in a clear lead glaze. Excellent color. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection. Very nice overall condition. Base chips. A few flakes on underside, probably in-the-making. Typical light wear to rim, including a shallow 1" rim chip. Typical minor chips to inner rim, which would hold a lid. Glazed surface survives in remarkable condition with typical light surface wear. H 10".
