Very Rare Glazed Redware Match Safe, Stamped "JOHN BELL," circa 1850, small-sized vessel with flared opening and pedestal base, glazed with sponged manganese and lead over a yellowish ground. Rim and base accented with incised lines. Impressed with John Bell maker's mark on underside. Excellent color and desirable size. Extremely rare form. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection. Near mint condition with light wear to rim. H 3".
