Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "WEST TROY, / N.Y. / POTTERY", circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground with shrubs. Provenance: Robert Meltzer Collection. A tight X-shaped line in underside. A small chip to interior of rim. A small in-the-firing chip to underside. Some minor staining to reverse and side.
