Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Fish Decoration, Stamped "W. HART / OGDENSBURGH, N.Y.", circa 1860, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a diagonally-slip-trailed design of a fish with open mouth and brushed scales. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A classic Hart figural design. A short and tight, sealed crack on reverse. A few small in-the-firing pings to surface. Some very light water glass residue to surface.
