Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1835, ovoid jar with flared collar and applied lug handles, decorated completely around the body with tulips and graduated leaves emanating from a horizontal stem. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: David Musser Collection. A 3 3/4" x 3 1/2" area of touch-up to reverse, presumably to an in-the-firing contact mark, which touches the cobalt and the edge of one handle. An additional 1 1/2" area of touch-up to an in-the-firing contact mark to reverse. Two minor in-the-firing nicks to interior of rim.
