Very Fine One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Profuse Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1840, ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooled collar, decorated around the body with a wavy vine bearing graduated leaves and seven fan-shaped flowers. Additional swag decoration to collar as well as flanking the spout. Cobalt stripe decoration to rim. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Wonderful decoration with exceptional color. Some shallow chipping to base. Otherwise excellent, essentially as-made condition.
