Extremely Rare Diminutive Stoneware Pig Flask, attributed to J. Swank & Co., Johnstown, PA, circa 1875, wheel-thrown flask with applied ears, feet, and tail, the surface covered in a salt glaze over a mottled dark-gray and brownish ground. Flask includes incised toes, eyes, and mouth with tusks. This flask, which bears the distinctive coloration of Swank pottery from Johnstown, PA. It is only the second Swank stoneware pig flask we have seen, the other being a much larger example, also lacking cobalt decoration. Spout with 3/4" loss and 3/8" chip. A 5/8" chip to one leg. A chip to tail. L 4 1/4".
