One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX. / HARRISBURG. PA", circa 1865, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a boldly-brushed tulip with looping accent around stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Excellent size and exceptional color. Provenance: David Musser Collection. Large chipped section to top of spout extending to upper handle terminal, created from stacking during the firing. A very minor base nick.
