Fine One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Cherries Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG", Pennsylvania origin, circa 1865, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout decorated with a large brushed design of a three cherries hanging from a leafy branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Excellent size and desirable Cowden motif. Provenance: David Musser Collection. A few areas of fry to heavier areas of cobalt. A tiny partially-drilled dent at base on side of jug. H 10 3/4".
