Two Small-Sized Glazed Redware Pitchers, Huntington, Long Island, New York or Norwalk, CT origin, second quarter 19th century, both of ovoid form, decorated with spattered manganese and covered in a clear lead glaze. Provenance: Collected in the Long Island, New York area. Shorter pitcher with cracks to underside, extending partway up body of pitcher, base chips, nicks and wear to rim, and light wear to body. Taller pitcher with heavy chipping to rim, small chips and wear to handle, minor chips to bottom edge, and a crack across underside, extending a short distance onto body of pitcher in two places, H (of taller pitcher) 5 1/4".
