Exceptional Stepped Redware Jar with Slip Decoration, probably New England origin, circa 1800-1830, cylindrical jar with stepped and graduated form accented with circumferential tooled banding. Surface dipped in a yellow slip and covered in a streaks of reddish-brown manganese and heavy clear lead glaze. Outstanding form and color. Remarkable, excellent condition with minor wear to base and interior of rim. H 9".
