Fine Lidded Redware Ale Mug, Stamped "JOHN BELL", Waynesboro, PA origin, circa 1850-1880, ovoid mug with flared collar and tooled rim, the surface decorated with streaks of manganese and covered in a clear lead glaze. Includes original domed redware lid, which fits firmly inside the mouth of the vessel. Impressed with John Bell maker's mark on underside. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some typical wear to border of underside and some minor surface wear to body. H (including lid) 7 1/2".
