Stoneware Face Jug, Stamped "BROWN POTTERY", Davis Pennington Brown, Arden, NC origin, circa 1930, ovoid jug with narrow spout and applied strap handle, decorated with an applied clay face featuring a crooked mouth with china teeth and circular eyes. Surface covered in a chocolate-brown Albany slip glaze. Impressed on underside "BROWN POTTERY" in a small-sized font along with the number 47. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, recently discovered in Pennsylvania. Very nice condition with a chip to left ear and a glazed-over chip to right ear. H 7 1/2".
