Fine Two-Gallon Pittsburgh, PA Stoneware Advertising Jar, Western PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, the front featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising "Wm. HASLAGE / & CO. / GROCERS AND TEA / DEALERS. / No. 18 Diamon / PITTSBURGH. / PA". Freehand cobalt stripes and vining the shoulder. Base with freehand number 2, flanked by dashes and underscored by a stripe. A fine example of Western PA merchant stoneware, featuring appealing "TEA DEALERS" advertising. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a tiny in-the-firing ping to shoulder.
