Exceptional Two-Gallon Stoneware Milkpan with Profuse Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1825, large-sized milkpan with squared rim, pouring spout, and applied tab handles, heavily-decorated around its circumference with two rows of conjoined tulips emanating from leafy stems. Outstanding decoration, color, and size. One of the most heavily-decorated American stoneware milkpans we have seen. Several hairlines from rim, most of which terminate in the rim or shoulder area of the milkpan. Additionally, a 4" hairline from rim on left side of milkpan's front and a 4" hairline from rim on right side of milkpan. A faint horizontal surface line above each handle, not visible on interior. H 7" ; Diameter (across top) 12 1/2".
