Rare Rockingham-Glazed Spittoon, Marked "SPEELER, TAYLOR, & BLOOR. / TRENTON, N.J.", circa 1855-1859, molded free-form spittoon with fine relief grape cluster and vine designs around body and on top surface. Surface decorated with streaks of brown and touches of blue over a yellowish ground. Large embossed "SPEELER, TAYLOR, & BLOOR" maker's mark on underside. Network of tight cracks in underside. A circular crack and two other thin cracks emanating from hole in top center. Restoration surrounding two-thirds of central hole. A 3/4" chip to base and two small chips to underside. H 4" ; L 8 1/2".
