Fine Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "FULPER BROS. / FLEMINGTON, N.J.", circa 1880, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a fat-bodied bird perched on a stump with shrubs at base. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent size and decoration. Provenance: David Musser Collection. A U-shaped crack at base on front. A 1" chip to top of spout, which appears to be in-the-firing. A short in-the-firing line at base on reverse. A few small, shallow base chips.
