Rare One-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "HUMISTON & CUMMINGS / S. AMBOY. NJ", second half 19th century, ovoid jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt wreath. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Includes salt-glazed lid. Three tiny surface flakes to left side of jar. Chips and wear to rim. Wear to inner rim, where a lid would rest. Wear to interior base. A 1 1/2" hairline at base on side of jar, extending as a Y 4" across underside of jar. A second 3" line on underside, not visible on interior. Lid with a long hairline and minor edge chip.
