Very Rare Miniature Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Fort Edward, NY origin, circa 1875, ovoid-bodied churn with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and flared collar with pronounced rim, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a leaf accented with spots. Decoration, form, and color and consistent with pieces produced in Fort Edward, NY, circa 1875. Exceptional size. One of a few miniature stoneware churns we have ever offered. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. Some light fry to cobalt. Some kiln residue on underside, connecting to a shallow, 3/4" in-the-firing base chip. A minuscule in-the-firing ping to reverse side of one handle. H 5 3/4".
