Fine Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT.", circa 1855, cylindrical crock with heavily-tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a floral spray with blossom surrounded by leaves, curved stems, and dotted trails. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent decoration, color, and size. Excellent condition with a small chip on interior of rim.
