Scarce Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Horse Head Decoration, Stamped "W. HART / OGDENSBURGH", New York State origin, circa 1860, ovoid jug with short, slightly-flared spout, the front decorated with a folky slip-trailed design of a horse head with well-executed mane, underscored with a looping flourish. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Fry to cobalt. A few shallow spout chips.
