Two-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "A.E. SMITH & SONS," Norwalk, CT origin, circa 1860, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large brushed flower extending across the front. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Impression of maker's mark is light, and the majority of it is difficult to read. A 2" crack on underside, continuing approximately 4" up side of jar. A 3 1/2" vertical line at base on front, continuing a short distance onto underside. Some fry to cobalt on the tip of the flower. A few shallow rim chips, primarily on interior.
