Extremely Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock, Stamped "LAWRENCE / MANUFACTURER / BURLINGTON / NJ", circa 1815, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, featuring the large impressed and cobalt-highlighted maker's mark "LAWRENCE / MANUFACTURER / BURLINGTON / NJ". This crock is possibly one of two known to exist. Another similar example, described as the only example known, is pictured in The Early Makers of Handcrafted Earthenware and Stoneware in Central and Southern New Jersey by M. Lelyn Branin. Broken and reglued, including a 4" x 2" filled and colored section to underside. Rim and base chips. A 3/4" surface chip to side of crock.
