Rare One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "C. DILLON & Co. / ALBANY", New York State origin, circa 1835-1836, highly-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and oversized lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt "1" on the front and cobalt highlights to the maker's mark. Excellent size and difficult-to-find mark. A very faint 6" vertical surface line extending up from base on reverse, as well as 1/2" onto underside. Minor wear to the ends of each handle. A 1" rim chip and a few other minor rim nicks.
