Rare Two-Gallon Shenandoah Valley Redware Handled Jar, Stamped Twice "ISAAC GOOD," Rockingham County, VA origin, fourth quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and large lug handles, the surface covered in a lead glaze over a mottled green and orange clay ground. An unusual form for this maker, featuring two impressed maker's mark. Provenance: Recently found in Maine. Heavy chipping to one handle. Loss and chipping to opposite handle, including a thin 5 1/2" crack from rim on side of jar, which extends through this handle. Wear to rim and shoulder molding, including a chip to top of rim. Some scattered exfoliation to surface of jar. A Y-shaped hairline on underside, connecting to a 3" crack at base. Typical wear to interior.
